CATHEDRAL PINES

There is a far island where I long to be

A pine cathedral where God speaks to me

No longer floundering but held in His hand

Pointing the way to the promised land

Where the lights of heaven dance on living waters

Reflecting God’s love in all that matters

The Son of Man is the bridge to this holy place

Apart from sin, saved by His matchless Grace

Giving hope to the lost and rest for the troubled heart

Kneeling at the foot of the Cross is where I need to start

For our time on this earth is but a blink of the eye

To proclaim the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ!

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.”

John 14:1 ESV

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
