FROM THE BEGINNING

In the beginning there was love

Flowing from the Creator above

And there was the Living Word

Christ, our Savior and our Lord

God, Jesus and the Spirit as One

Holiness and righteousness and love

Calling this lowly sinner to repent

By the supreme sacrifice Heaven sent

My unworthiness redeemed by Mercy

At the Cross I bow on bended knee

Worshipping anew my God and King

To His matchless love I ever cling

Each moment I await His soon return

The eternal reward I did not earn

But such is the nature of His Grace

Oh, to behold His glorious face!

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
