THE NEXT MOMENT

Often I wonder what the next moment will bring

But I am secure in the knowledge of this one thing

God loves and cares for me, supplying all I need

We are not promised tomorrow but I trust His lead

I have tried it every other way relying only on myself

Foolishly thinking why should I depend on anyone else

But I cannot fill the void preserved for the One He sent

Christ Jesus, the answer to our quest for contentment

He came in so much love to take my sins far away

Even when He knew how far from Him I would stray

He suffered and died for me despite my indifference

Such mercy and grace the only way to my deliverance

I do not know what the next moment will bring

But I am secure in the knowledge of this one thing

God lovingly cares for me and has supplied all I need

I proclaim His only Son!

and I know I am redeemed!

“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he has redeemed from trouble and gathered in from the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south. Some wandered in desert wastes, finding no way to a city to dwell in; hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted within them. Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.”

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
