TO THE SOJOURNERS

What of the humble traveler who comes to us from afar

Seeking God’s will like the wisemen following the star

Bringing their unique gifts of the spirit with us to share

So many the stories of God’s grace and answered prayer

We all are in search of something to fill the void in our heart

Doomed to be sinners and seekers from the curse’s very start

See now the Christ who came to suffer and die for you and me

Such mercy and love like none other displayed on Cavalry’s tree

For awhile we are privileged to worship Him together as family

Brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus awaiting that better destiny

We are all sojourners for a short time on this earth by God’s grace

‘Til we meet again in heaven one glorious day exalting Him face to face!

“”Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear to my cry; hold not your peace at my tears! For I am a sojourner with you, a guest, like all my fathers.”

Psalm 39:12 ESV

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
