AT THE FOOT OF THE CROSS

Oh believer have you gone astray
Come again to the foot of The Cross
Let redemption have its way

Rescued from sin’s tangled maze
Come again to the foot of The Cross
Drink fully My cup of unmerited grace

Claim the joy that you once knew
Come again to the foot of The Cross
I am the source of the only Truth

Touch My pierced hands, feet and side
Come again to the foot of The Cross
Where I suffered, bled and died

Claim My victory over your deserved death
Come again to the foot of The Cross
Let My righteousness be all that’s left

Pray unceasingly the remainder of days
Come again to the foot of The Cross
From your heart’s throne I forever reign

Oh unbeliever, it’s not too late
Come to the foot of The Cross
The risen Lord and Savior waits

“I believe, help my unbelief.”
Mark 9:24

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
