TELL ME OF THIS JESUS

Tell me of the one who loved us
Before the beginning of time
Tell me of this love so great, this Jesus
That I should make Him mine

God’s only Son of virgin birth
How are we worthy of this sacrifice
That caused Him to come to earth
The One who opens blinded eyes

Healing the lame to walk with Him
Why He gave up everything for the Cross
Taking upon Himself all our sin
Unwilling that any should be lost

Tell me how we are healed by His stripes
Show me the nail prints in His hands and feet
And where the spear pierced His side
Tell me how the repentant thief was redeemed

Tell me what I must do
What can I bring Him for recompense
How can I be made new
And claim His holy righteousness

Tell me about that third day
How He arose to conquer death
How they found the stone rolled away
Tell me about His first breath

Show me what it is to repent
To turn from my sin and pride
Trusting only in the One God sent
That I might have the Holy Spirit inside

Tell me of Christ Jesus and His love so true
Tell me again of His mercy and grace
Hallelujah! By faith alone I believe, nothing else I need do
Until the day I see Him face to face

I will praise His name and then forevermore

“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”” John 8:12 ESV

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
