Oh, to find refuge from despair in the cleft of the rock
But a great and mighty wind rends the mountainside
God commands His creation His holy plan to unlock
From His power and righteousness no one can hide
After the wind does not even the earth tremble and quake
From the pinnacle of glory to the deepest despondency
Not one child of His own will He leave or ever forsake
Feel His fervent fire and claim His matchless mercy
God’s truth comes in the sound of a low whisper
A humble servant He sent, His wayward people to save
Hallelujah! To be in His presence, praising Him forever!
I am a natural born sinner rescued by Christ Jesus’ grace!
And he said, “Go out and stand on the mount before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire the sound of a low whisper.”
I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share.
In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified!
