THE CRUCIFIED THIEF

Oh, how we are like the crucified thief

Tormented by our sin and unbelief

Locked in denial or hoping for more

Until we look to The Lord and Savior

Mocking the only One who can save you

Or rebuked by those who can’t see the Truth

Dying alone with no hope of forgiveness

Or pleading for redemption from our sinfulness

Bitterly denying, desolate, and forever lost

Or wonderfully saved by His Grace on The Cross

Which thief would you be, left or right?

What if this is your moment to decide?

Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
John 5:24(ESV)

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
