THE DISCIPLES’ FEET

“When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you?
—John 13:12 (ESV)

Such joy knowing from where you came
More faith knowing you’re returning to the same
But what suffering you must soon endure
On a humble cross our salvation to ensure

Gird yourself now with righteous power
For it is not yet death’s required hour
Living water needed, our sins to wipe away
The promise we will be with you on that day

For the one who has bathed is completely clean
But the Savior must first wash our feet
The servant not greater than his master
The messenger not greater than his sender

The example of what we all must do
By His grace
Through His love so true

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
