LIGHT OF REDEEMING GRACE

I have been wanting to share with you this hope that I have

For the longest time I lived only for myself and no one else

But then the Holy Spirit opened my eyes to the One who saves

God sent us His only Son, Christ Jesus, to lead us to Himself

At first I could not comprehend a love that would sacrifice so much

Especially knowing the darkness inside me and my utter selfishness

But the hardness of my heart was overcome by the Savior’s gentle touch

The Light of His redeeming grace reaches even the depths of my sinfulness

He carried all our sins, past, present and future on Calvary’s cruel Cross

Giving up everything, He died for you and me because of this love so deep

How can I not share this hope with you that came at such tremendous cost

He arose from the grave, fulfilling every promise He said He would keep

Christ Jesus is the living Truth we seek!

“If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

John 8:31-32 ESV

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
