THE LEGACY OF RUTH

Darkness and famine are everywhere

By God’s providence love finds a way

But stony hearts are easily laid bare

Life changing each moment of the day

So how does one move on from here

The only place we have ever known

Faith in God alone overcomes all fear

For the world is no longer our home

God provides and His love sustains us

The Bread of Life satisfying every need

Exchanging our sin for His righteousness

The hope and promise for all who believe

God has prepared for His own a holy city

In this heavenly realm we find peace in The Truth

Our Savior redeeming His bride for all eternity

By the same mercy and grace gifted to a faithful Ruth

“But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there will I be buried. May the Lord do so to me and more also if anything but death parts me from you.” And when Naomi saw that she was determined to go with her, she said no more.” Ruth 1:16-18 ESV

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
