And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to the promise. Galations 3:29 (ESV)
Abraham took his only son, Isaac, and headed to a mountain in Moriah With unwavering obedience he followed God’s command For the burnt offering, Isaac carried the wood, Abraham the fire But what could be sacrificed to possibly justify the sins of man?
At the right time the angel of the Lord stayed Abraham’s hand For the Lamb of God upon The Cross is His required provision God’s undeserved mercy and love embodied in the Son of Man For salvation can only be through His Son’s death and resurrection
The promise to Abraham was realized through his unquestioning faithfulness And we too can be numbered among his descendants if only we believe Receiving “the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness” We have new life because God’s ultimate provision for sin was upon a tree
I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share.
In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified!
