AT ONE END OF THE CROSS

And he said to all, “If anyone would
come after me, let him deny himself and take
up his cross daily and follow me.”

Luke 9:23 (ESV)

At one end of the cross is darkness and our sin

At the other end of the cross is an empty tomb, forgiveness, hope and salvation

One can choose to remain where they’ve been

Or accept His free sacrificial gift of justification

It only took one drop of His blood to save us

But so much more was given

Selfless Love’s only motive is to redeem us

To bridge the chasm between us and heaven

And worship the Only One who cared enough

To become sin for us that we might have Life

At one end of the cross is Sacrificial Love

At the other end of the cross one has to decide

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
