Claim the promise from which the Father’s mercies flow
Rejoice in hope that wipes away every lingering tear
His risen Son has utterly defeated life’s cursed foe!
Redeemed loved ones who have gone before us will rise
Returning with our Lord on that glorious day of days
God’s righteous trumpet resounding in grace-filled skies
Listen for the archangel’s voice with a constant upward gaze
Christ Jesus who died on the Cross for our sins is coming again!
We who are saved by faith alone will be summoned airborne
For a spontaneous worship service in the clouds with Him
A forever reunion with our beloved Savor King leading us home!
“For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.”
I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share.
In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified!
