In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1 (ESV)
Who has ever heard the wind along a forest’s leafy pathway and not known you, or waves slapping a rocky shore and the tender melody of a small bird above so much noise
Who has ever seen the brilliant splendor of a distant sunset and not known you or stony towers in all their white glory and the lights of heaven ever sparkling even through so much darkness
Who has ever felt the warmth of the morning sun upon their sweaty brow and not known you or a cool breeze on a summer’s eve and the thrill of one more day to live in spite of so much indifference
I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share.
In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified!
