OVERWHELMED BY GRACE

“But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man’s trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many.”

Romans 5:15 ESV

I praise God from whom flows every blessing!

No more doubts, no need to keep guessing

The meaning of this life, the reason for living

God’s only Son is the gift that keeps giving

Sacrificial love my mind cannot comprehend

But my heart rejoices knowing how this ends

Proclaiming the Good News to all who will hear

Salvation awaits each sinner who draws near

The risen Lord and King of whom angels sing

This is the promise and hope to which I cling

Christ Jesus died on the cross bearing our sins

Only asking that we repent and believe in Him

So by faith I know now what I need to do

Overwhelmed by grace and a love so true

Unspeakable joy knocking at my heart’s door

Praising my God and my Savior forevermore!

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
