NO ROOM

This time of year is so busy
Not enough hours in the day
Too many distractions

Is this how it has to be
Visitors on the way
Meal preparations

Rooms to get ready
How many will come to stay
So much trepidation

What of Joseph and Mary
Whom I turned away
Here for the taxation

I heard she had her baby
What did those shepherds say
“A child is born for our salvation!”

“And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.”
Luke 2:7, 20 ESV

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
