MISSED

My world is warm, dark and void of time

But my first thought is “I am loved”

I feel a heart beating that is not mine

A sense of belonging to someone above

Providing everything I could possibly need

As all my inward and outward parts are defined

Intricately and exquisitely, I become “me”

Longing to know the one in whom I’m confined

The person in whom I have all my trust

But suddenly without warning I feel that something is wrong

My world is shaken and into the cold I am thrust

My last thought is “will I ever know to whom I belong?”

But instantly there is warmth and light

Strong arms gently cradle me

Yet hold me tight

And I wonder “who can this be?”

I feel a heart beating that is not mine

Oh, my Lord and Savior, it is You!

Creator of heaven and earth who made me

Showering me with grace, mercy and love so true

I await the joyous day when I will see my family

For I know that I am loved!

“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

1 Corinthians 15:57 ESV

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
