THE LEGACY

According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1:3-5 (ESV)

To Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the promise was given

A great nation, a great name and God’s singular blessing

Through their lives’ triumphs and failures, ever battling sin

With enduring faithfulness and by grace never ending

The Word from the beginning leads us to the only One

Who became a man, the righteous requirement to provide

Through God’s love and mercy, His very own Son

The Promise of The Cross, for our sins He suffered and died

The enemy is now vanquished, my sins are forgiven

My heart’s eyes unblinded to His glory and majesty

Ransomed by The King, Christ Jesus, crucified and risen

By faith alone- let this be my life’s soul legacy

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
