WHO HAS BELIEVED

See God’s wise servant

Now lifted up on high

Exalt Him and repent

O’ children of mankind

His appearance astonishes

Beaten and bloodstained

God’s lowly Lamb admonishes

His majesty preordained

Open your eyes and see

To the Living Word ever cling

Bow down on bended knee

Worship our Savior and King

Our sorrows and sins He bore

By His wounds we are healed

Redeeming us forevermore

Righteousness and love revealed

See Calvary’s terrifying tree

Grace and mercy paved the way

The borrowed tomb ever empty

Look for His soon return, O’ glorious day!

“Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.” Isaiah 53:4-6 ESV

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
