In Him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of His glory. Ephesians 1:11-12 (ESV)
Predestined from before time and creation
To be grafted into the family tree of believers
But given the option to choose salvation
Or succumb to the lies of the great deceiver
How does one reconcile this apparent contradiction
How does one choose when the decision is already made
There must be an answer beyond my comprehension
A glorious mystery to be revealed at the end of days
So by faith in Christ Jesus, my Lord and Savior
Who gave His everything, even His life up for me
I choose this narrowing path, knowing He has gone before
Never questioning the love and mercy displayed upon that Tree
I am but a wild olive shoot grafted into the tree of Life by His grace alone
I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share.
In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified!
