TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCE

It would be easy to lament that one’s life may be of no lasting consequence

When contemplating the incomprehensible vastness of the universe expanse

But know this God gave up His only Son to suffer and to die just for you

On that cruel Cross He proved His incredible mercy and His love so true

Christ Jesus taking upon Himself the horrible penalty for our sin

Only asking that we humbly repent and place all our trust in Him

The source of immeasurable grace and matchless righteousness

By His resurrection He conquered death for our timely deliverance

Now we have the glorious guarantee of His priceless inheritance

Hallelujah! Come feast at the table of this blessed assurance

Our hope and joy forever established by His precious blood for our salvation!

Proclaim the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ with shouts of acclamation!

“The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance. I bless the Lord who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure.”

—Psalms 16:5–9 (ESV)

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
