“A MEMORIAL DAY PRAYER”

TO CARE FOR HIM WHO SHALL HAVE BORNE THE BATTLE AND FOR HIS WIDOW, AND HIS ORPHAN. -Abraham Lincoln

Dear Heavenly Father,

Creator of the heavens and the earth, Author of mercy and wisdom

Bless the women and men who serve to protect our fragile freedoms

Thank you for those who have borne the battle at such a precious cost

We praise you for sending Christ Jesus to die for our sins on the Cross

Let us never forget the brave who have sacrificed everything for us

A debt that cannot be adequately repaid by this grateful remembrance

Alleviate the pain and suffering of those with depression and addictions

The deep and hidden wounds of service and war causing dire afflictions

Help us to never neglect their weeping widows and orphans left at home

We are all sinners without any hope except for saving faith in Christ alone

O Lord, lead us, for then we know each step of the way will be secure

Until in your loving arms we find the enduring peace your grace assures!

For You are our refuge, strength and salvation!

In your Son’s name we pray,

Amen

“…for the Lord your God is He who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.” Deuteronomy 20:4 ESV

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
