GOD’S PROVIDENCE

King Xerxes hosted a great feast displaying his empire’s splendor and majesty

But his command was ignored by Queen Vashti attending her own festivity

The young and beautiful Esther was chosen when a new queen was sought

Her cousin Mordecai saved the king’s life when he overheard a murderous plot

The wicked Haman was promoted to power and demanded all bend the knee

His wounded pride demanded the murder of Mordecai and all Jews by decree

But Esther and Mordecai desperately hoped to reverse this evil scheme of his

Mordecai advised Esther she may have been born for just such a time as this

Esther invited the king to the first of two banquets as part of their plan

While high gallows for Mordecai’s execution were ordered by Haman

The king endured a sleepless night and read the book of memorable deeds

Haman was humiliated and Mordecai was exalted as God’s plan succeeds

Haman was hung from the gallows he made while all the Jews were saved

Mordecai grew in power, the Jews slew their enemies and celebrate Purim today

By God’s Providence, Esther, Mordecai and God’s chosen people were not lost

By God’s great mercy and love we are redeemed by Christ’s work on the Cross!

“For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
