“A SWORD FOR THE LORD”

“And he divided the 300 men into three companies and put trumpets into the hands of all of them and empty jars, with torches inside the jars. And he said to them, “Look at me, and do likewise. When I come to the outskirts of the camp, do as I do. When I blow the trumpet, I and all who are with me, then blow the trumpets also on every side of all the camp and shout, ‘For the Lord and for Gideon.'”

Judges 7:16-18 ESV

From many only a few are chosen

So the heirs of the Great I Am

Faithful trumpeters smash their jars

The Light reveals the battle is ours

“A sword for the Lord and for Gideon”

Chaos reigned in the camp of Midian

The enemy vanquished, the army ran

So the darkness before the Son of Man

God uses broken jars of clay

To share the truth and light the way

His only Son sacrificed on a tree

Arose from the grave in victory

Sin and death defeated forevermore

Our blessed hope has won the war

In Jesus grace and peace are ever found

As we await the last trumpet sound!

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
