“Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.” Habakkuk 3:17-18
In the God of our salvation
In every tribulation
In suffering for Christ Jesus
In the gift of righteousness
In the resurrection of the Son
In the glory to come
In the Holy Spirit
In favor without merit
In the Good News
In walking in the truth
In the day the Lord has made
In saving faith
In hope always
In melodious noise
In plans for peace
In knowing He will never leave
In believing though not seeing
In the asking and receiving
In a heart surrendered
In mercies remembered
In the morning
In renewed strength soaring
In chains broken
In blessings unspoken
In the forgiveness of sins
In love that never ends
Inexpressible
Indelible
In Christ Jesus alone!
“Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory,” 1 Peter 1:8 ESV
I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share.
In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified!
