STEADFAST IN OUR SUFFERING

Rejoice! knowing God’s promises are ever true!

For after you have suffered now for a little while

The God of all grace will lovingly restore you

Faithfully seeing you through each fiery trial

Our present sufferings do not compare to his sacrifice

Who bore our sins on the Cross, suffered and died

Now we are heirs of God and heirs with Christ!

Provided we suffer with him and so may be glorified

Count it all joy when your faith is put to the test

We are being transformed into a people for his glory

Do not lose heart but in him find peace and rest

Blessed be God the Father of all comfort and mercy!

The grace of Christ is all-sufficient in our weakness!

As our outer self wastes away our inner self is new

By his blood we are made strong and righteous

Steadfast in his love the Savior cares for you!

“In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 1:6-7 ESV

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
