“SAVE, O LORD”

The waters have come up to our necks, save us O God!

Rescue us once more in your steadfast love

For you alone are the mighty one in our midst

Blot out the sea of our transgressions like mist

You sent your only son to die for the unworthy

Remove the scales on our blinded eyes to see

Lead us to the one who saves to the uttermost

We hope in your promises, counting all else loss

You raise up the brokenhearted and crushed in spirit

We confess Jesus as Lord receiving your free gift

Faithful is the enduring Word that saves the soul

Let us be ready to give all for the sake of the gospel

Humbly we bend the knee before the light of truth

Redeem us with the living water making all things new!

We await our good shepherd to gather us to his throne!

For by grace we are saved through faith in you alone!

Save, O Lord, we pray!

“Save, O Lord, for the godly one is gone; for the faithful have vanished from among the children of man.” Psalm 12:1 ESV

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
