LIFE SPENT

“For who knows what is good for man while he lives the few days of his vain life, which he passes like a shadow? For who can tell man what will be after him under the sun?” Ecclesiastes 6:12 ESV

Who knows what is good for me?

My life is spent with sorrow

God sent His only Son to redeem

Jesus is our hope today and tomorrow

My life is like a single breath

The years fly by too soon

God revealed His love for us by Jesus’ death

Christ arose leaving an empty tomb

Shall I take nothing for all my toil?

My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle

The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy

Christ gifts us new life through the gospel

Is there still time for me to change my ways?

My strength fails because of my iniquity

Jesus is the door, enter and be saved

He came that we might have life abundantly

My weary bones ache and waste away

Life passes like a shadow, my years with a sigh

Rejoice! By grace we are saved by faith!

God rich in mercy makes us alive in Jesus Christ!

Hallelujah! and Amen!

“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— Ephesians 2:4-5 ESV

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
