THE LORD IS OUR PORTION

“The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot.” Psalm 16:5 ESV

O servants of the Lord, praise His holy name!

“For many are called but few are chosen”

The Lord’s portion is His people forever changed

By Christ’s death on the Cross mercy has spoken

Hallelujah! Exalt the Lord our God, the Lord is one!

Enter by the narrow gate, choose the faithful way

For the Lord is our portion and our hope His only Son

The bread and cup proclaim Jesus’s death until His day!

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!

Gift us compassionate hearts, humility and kindness

The Lord is our portion, His promises true to His Word

God anoints us with oil, our cup overflows with righteousness

The Lord is the King of kings, surely He will save us!

Even now He rescues a remnant chosen by grace

For Christ Jesus is our portion and beautiful inheritance

Surely the lines have fallen for us in pleasant places!

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
