ONCE FOUND

And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.
Genesis 1:31 (ESV)

I find you in the promise of a rainbow

interrupting a cool morning shower

and winter’s quiet stillness chasing fallen snow

in the gentle fragrance of a wildflower

wading through a field green beneath the late afternoon sun

winding memories that lead one home
through mid-summer shadows growing as daylight is done

then even the sunset recites a poem

to the soft shimmer of the stars above in the clear evening sky

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
