THE ABUNDANT DANCE

How did this perfectly choreographed dance become an unhappy brawl

God’s original design, woman and man, created in His glorious image

But deceived by darkness, desiring to be God-like, ever wanting it all

We are condemned to toil and pain because of this sin-filled heritage

But not only their transgressions, what of our own unrighteousness

Fullness of pride, lust, and deceit, dragging us into the deepest abyss

Always wanting more than what we have to mend our heart’s brokenness

Needing acceptance and love, languishing all alone in our emptiness

What if there is more to our lives, what if there is a second chance

Do we have to accept this world’s false pretenses that cannot satisfy

There is one, God’s only Son, who came to restore the promised dance

Unfailing Love that gave up heaven for a cruel cross to suffer and die

How can it be, such holiness and mercy, are meant for you and me?

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” John‬ ‭10‬:‭10‬ ‭ESV‬‬

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
