THE RULER BORN IN BETHLEHEM

“But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days. Therefore he shall give them up until the time when she who is in labor has given birth; then the rest of his brothers shall return to the people of Israel. And he shall stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they shall dwell secure, for now he shall be great to the ends of the earth. And he shall be their peace.” Micah 5:2-5a ESV

O Bethlehem Ephrathah

Come Son of Judah!

The Ruler in Israel

His name Immanuel!

Of the virgin birth

Peace on earth

Good will toward men

Bright morning Star of Zion!

From Ancient of Days

The free Gift of Grace

God’s abiding Word

Our Great Shepherd!

Strength and security

Messenger of Mercy

Magnify His Majesty

The Prince of Peace!

Lord of all, King of kings!

Our Risen Redeemer returning!

The Ruler in Israel

Hallelujah! Come O Immanuel!

Come!

(Bethlehem meaning= House of Bread; Ephrathah meaning= fruitful; Immanuel meaning= God with us)

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
