“Contend, O Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me! Take hold of shield and buckler and rise for my help! Draw the spear and javelin against my pursuers! Say to my soul, “I am your salvation!”” Psalm 35:1-3 ESV
Believe in Him, confess Jesus Christ is Lord!
He suffered and died on the Cross in our stead
Saving us by grace through faith in His Word
Defeating death, God raised him from the dead
While we were still sinners Christ died for us
Crucified with him it is no longer we who live
Christ lives in us imparting his righteousness
If we confess our sins he is faithful to forgive
The gospel is the power of God for salvation
There is no greater love than that which He gave
No one comes to the Father except by the Son
There is no other name by which we are saved
Exalt the living Word and believe in Christ Jesus!
He will lead you through every trial and tribulation
The Lord Jesus is forever ours and we are his!
Daily he says to our souls, “I am your salvation!”
I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share.
In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified!
