“TO THE GOD OF MY LIFE”

“Deep calls to deep at the roar of your waterfalls; all your breakers and your waves have gone over me. By day the Lord commands his steadfast love, and at night his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life.”

Psalm 42:7-8 ESV

O Lord, deliver me from sinking into the darkness

The flood of sin covers me and I sink like a stone

Deliver me from deep waters by your righteousness

Put a new song of praise in my heart at your throne

When the waters close in over me to take my life

Stretch out your hand from on high and rescue me

When darkness surrounds me, save me by your Light

Jesus, who calms the storm, draw me out of the deep

Though I pass through the depths, you are ever with me

When the deep waters see you they tremble and are afraid

Day and night I trust you and know my soul you will keep

O Lord, in your steadfast love, I find perfect peace and grace!

Hallelujah and Amen!

“But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.”

Matthew 14:30-32 ESV

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
