OUR STRONG FORTRESS (to Dad)

“Walk about Zion, go around her, number her towers, consider well her ramparts, go through her citadels, that you may tell the next generation that this is God, our God forever and ever. He will guide us forever.”

Psalm 48:12-14 ESV

All praise is due to the Lord, our Holy God, in Zion!

Church, shout and sing for joy, O unworthy inhabitants

For great in our midst is The Lamb, God’s only Son!

Our Redeemer, great High Priest and humble servant

The righteous fear of the Lord is Zion’s eternal treasure!

Find security in the citadel of salvation and towers of wisdom

Rest in God’s pledge of safety and mercy without measure

Evil will never breach the ramparts of this holy kingdom

The great bulwark of Zion is our Savior, the King of kings!

Keeping watchful providence and promises innumerable

Christ is the head of the church, full of grace, to whom we cling

Proclaim His loving sacrificial covenant poured out for all people!

“This is God, our God forever and ever!”

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
