“I Am The Door”

“So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.” John 10:7-9

Christ Jesus is the good Shepherd

Who laid down His life for the sheep

The Son of God and the Living Word

In Him alone, the hope and peace we seek

The Father knows Him and He knows the Father

Jesus knows His own and His own know Him

By grace we are His adopted sons and daughters

This Shepherd died for the forgiveness of our sins

By His blood He poured out the new covenant

Now the Savior leads His sheep beside still waters

He is the great shepherd, what more could one want

The Lamb of God makes us lie down in green pastures

Our Redeemer rejoices over even one rescued sheep

By the wounds of the Chief Shepherd we are healed

Great is His mercy and His love unfathomably deep

Blessed assurance our salvation is forever sealed

by the Guardian of our souls!

Hallelujah!

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
