“THE LORD WILL BE A LIGHT TO ME”

“Rejoice not over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me.” Micah 7:8 ESV

O Lord God,

Please make us strong and courageous

Your Light has overcome the darkness

We flee to Christ Jesus our saving refuge

All praise for Your grace and Your truth!

Your only Son is the Light of the world

Our unwavering hope is Your Living Word

The promise of salvation is forever true

You hear our pleas and make all things new

We who believe no longer live in darkness

Illuminated by Your love and righteousness

Christ Jesus died for the forgiveness of sins

Please rescue us from lying lips and evil men

Jesus will raise up His own on the last day!

All those saved by grace through faith!

We praise You for undeserved love and mercy!

In You, O Lord, is new life for all eternity!

Amen

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
