“WATCHMEN FOR THE MORNING”

“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning.”

Psalm 130:5-6 ESV

Wait for the Lord, let your heart take courage

Our hope is in His steadfast love age to age

O’ my soul wait for His unmerited salvation

Justified by grace we are gifted redemption!

The Lord is good to the soul who seeks Him!

Look for His soon return as morning watchmen

Eagerly wait for the hope of His righteousness

The hope we do not see, wait for it with patience

Christ Jesus is our sure and steadfast anchor!

Our hope to enter the inner place behind the curtain

His sacrifice on the Cross our souls redeeming

Blessed is the New Jerusalem that is coming!

Repentant hearts will escape the desolation of Babylon

God shines forth, the perfection of beauty, out of Zion!

Christ Jesus is the Living Word to whom we cling!

O’ my soul wait for Him more than watchmen for the morning!

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
