“ROCK OF REFUGE”

“In you, O Lord, do I take refuge; let me never be put to shame! In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; incline your ear to me, and save me! Be to me a rock of refuge, to which I may continually come; you have given the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.”

Psalm 71:1-3 ESV

Dear Lord, make haste to deliver us

We rejoice in Your promises ever true

Your righteousness is forever righteous!

Behold, You will make all things new!

Deliver us from all our transgressions

In Your righteousness, give us new life

Cleanse us from all unrighteousness

You, O Lord, are the everlasting Light!

We cry aloud and You hear us, Jesus

Rescue us from darkness and evil deeds

We take refuge in Your mercy and grace

At Your name we praise You on our knees

Let everyone who loves You draw near

Redeemer and Author of our sanctification

When we pray, You promise that you hear

We wait for You, O God of our salvation

Save us Lord Jesus with love steadfast!

We call to You, for only You can save

Be exalted, our rock and our fortress!

Save us and we shall be saved,

for You are our praise!

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week.
