HIS NAME IS NEAR

“We give thanks to you, O God; we give thanks, for your name is near. We recount your wondrous deeds.”

Psalm 75:1 ESV

This is the will of God, give thanks in all circumstances

All praise and honor to the source of our righteousness

Thanks be to God for his steadfast love endures forever

And to his Son, the bonds of our sin only he can sever

Rejoice in the Lord Jesus, give thanks to his holy name

Oh redeemed, saved by grace, we will never be the same

Give thanks always, in God we shall boast continually

With unity of mind, brotherly love, kindness and sympathy

Enter his gates with thanksgiving, his courts with praise

Sing praises to the Lord, ever call upon his holy name

Give thanks to God, Christ Jesus, our Savior and Lord

Search and claim the many promises in his Living Word

Wait for our blessed hope, the glorious appearing of the Savior

For we are his people, the rescued sheep of his pasture

Give thanks always in his holy name for it is true and good

Behold, Christ Jesus is returning just like he said he would!

So let us stir up one another to love and righteous deeds

Oh to be in his presence praising him on bended knees

The beloved highly exalted One of God who came to save

Praise the Lord, Jesus, the name that is above every name!

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
