“SING FOR JOY”

“My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God.”

Psalm 84:2 ESV

My heart and my soul pant for You, O Lord

Longing for rescue, my hope is the Living Word

My spirit faints when I meditate on Your mercy

Ever I seek You, thirsting for You earnestly

I give thanks to You, calling upon Your holy name

Entering Your courts with thanksgiving and praise

I make a joyful noise to the rock of my salvation

Singing praises to my Redeemer enthroned in Zion

Let all the earth worship You, praising Your name

My lips shout for joy when I sing Your sweet praise

Righteousness, peace and grace overwhelm my soul

The joy of Christ Jesus is in me and I am utterly full

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
