TO THE LOVE OF CHRIST I CLING

“I will love them freely.”

Hosea 14:4

(Let this be my testimony and my song

I will sing this anthem all the day long

To my Redeemer my heart belongs!)

All praise to my Savior King

Of his glorious name I sing

To the Cross on Calvary I cling

By the blood of Jesus I am forgiven

Thankful for his life freely given

My undeserved prize in heaven

Behold the joy of the empty tomb

Christ ascended prepares us room

How I long for his returning soon

All praise to my Savior King

Of his glorious name I sing

To the mercy of Christ I cling

This my morning and evening prayer

To give him every burden and care

The hope of the Gospel I declare

By my sins I am no longer bound

In Jesus grace upon grace is found

Listen for the last trumpet sound

All praise to my Savior King!

Of his glorious name I sing!

To the love of Christ I cling!

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
