OUR GREAT AND AWESOME GOD!

“I said, “O Lord God of heaven, the great and awesome God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments,”

Nehemiah 1:5 ESV

Our God is God of gods, the great, and the almighty

The awesome God, Lord of Lords, who judges rightly

Our Lord is the God of heaven and God of the earth

Whose steadfast love and mercy herald our holy rebirth

Behold the Deliverer from Zion who takes away our sins

From him and through him and to him are all things

Christ Jesus is the guarantor of the new covenant

By his blood we are gifted grace if we believe and repent!

Merciful toward us, God remembers our sins no more

The Lord keeps our going out and coming in forevermore

Love others as yourself for Jesus is righteous and kind

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind!

We who believe are called to obey his Living Word

Come worship on bended knee our Savior and Lord

The Redeemer who paid for us a heavenly king’s ransom!

Forever let us praise God for he is great and awesome!

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
