“ BRING THE BOOK”

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1 ESV

Dear Heavenly Father,

Let this be my heart’s only desire
To love your precious Word above all
For you saved me from sin’s awful mire
Defeating the deadly curse of the fall

Please fill me with your righteousness
I come before you on bended knee
Claiming your promises with all reverence
Help me be all that you want me to be

Grant me wisdom to know your Word
Let my sanctification be complete
For I live in awe of you, O’ Lord!
Longing for the day to worship at your feet

I beg your forgiveness for every sinful thing
Convicted by the truth of your living Word
Nothing but faith alone I bring
Hewed by the grace of your two-edged sword

I will praise you always for endless mercies
For your imminent return I constantly look
Your Word ever accomplishes your purposes
Until that glorious day, I exclaim “bring The Book!”

Amen, Amen!

“And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people, for he was above all the people, and as he opened it all the people stood. And Ezra blessed the Lord, the great God, and all the people answered, “Amen, Amen,” lifting up their hands. And they bowed their heads and worshiped the Lord with their faces to the ground.” Nehemiah 8:5-6 ESV

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
