I KNOW WHO I HAVE BELIEVED

“But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me.” —2 Timothy 1:12 (ESV)

I know what I believe, give me boldness to say it

I used to worry what others might think of me

Lord, help me share Your Word by the Holy Spirit

Exalting Your sacrifice, Your glory and majesty

This is the Good News redeeming my stony heart

You suffered and died for me, atoning for my sins

Defeating death, You claimed me, no longer apart

I live in awestruck wonder of love so great as this

Saturate my thirsty spirit with all Your righteousness

Grant me the joy and peace that come from You alone

To know You is to know the Father of Light and Holiness

I proclaim Your mercy and grace until He calls me home!

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
