“How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God. Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.” Hebrews 9:14–15 (ESV)

“This is the new covenant written in My blood,” His cup poured out
Praying in such agony, sweat like blood droplets falling to the ground
Judas laments his betrayal of innocent blood, but what of all our sins?
Temple guards spit in His face while hate-clenched fists pummel Him
Pilate claims he is innocent of this man’s blood, washing his hands again
But condemns Him to be crucified after brutally scourging the Son of Man
A twisted ring of thorns is placed ungently upon His head as a crown
The Roman soldiers strike Him repeatedly with a reed, blood running down
Large spikes hammered through His hands and feet on Calvary’s mount
Finally with a spear they pierce His side, blood and water flowing out
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. (Romans 5:8–9)
His cup pours out.
