“CALLED TO FREEDOM”

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

Psalm 73:26 ESV

My flesh is weak, my heart of stone

My only hope, grace at His throne

My sins forgiven, my soul set free

But why would Jesus die for me

The Holy God of all creation truly cares

My salvation, the joyful answer to a prayer

The worst of sinners, I was bound for hell

Convicted of my sin, before the Cross I fell

My flesh is weak, my heart of stone

My only hope, grace at His throne

My sins forgiven, my soul set free

But why would Jesus die for me

God raises me up by His righteous right hand

He called me to His holy embrace just as I am

The precious blood of Jesus washing me clean

His loving provision for my life is all I need

My flesh is weak, my heart of stone

My only hope, grace at His throne

My sins forgiven, my soul set free

But why would Jesus die for me

Mercy saved me from the curse of death

Now I praise my Savior with each breath

I lift up my eyes, awaiting His soon return

Rejoicing in the salvation I did not earn

My flesh is weak, my heart no longer my own!

My only hope, grace flowing from His throne!

My sins forgiven, my soul forever set free!

For the glory of God with steadfast love

Jesus died for me!

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
