HIGHWAY TO ZION

“Blessed are those whose strength is in you, in whose heart are the highways to Zion.”

Psalm 84:5 ESV

O Lord,

Lead me to Your heavenly throne

For this world is not my home

Bless the Word that You have sown

He who wears the golden crown

You sent us Jesus to redeem us

Lead me in His paths of righteousness

I am saved by Your matchless grace

Give me strength to finish this race

My heart is no longer one of stone

Changed forever by mercies untold

In Your love I have abundant life

By the precious blood of Your sacrifice

Hope leads me on the highway to Zion

Safe forever in the hand of Your Son

Who on the Cross Your love displayed

The debt that can never be repaid

Let this truth be my living testimony

May my service for You be my legacy

Save my loved ones for Your glory

Bless my soul on this joyful journey!

Amen

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
