“PUT ON LOVE”

“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.”

Colossians 3:12-15 ESV

Put on the Savior, our Lord Jesus Christ

Who called us into His marvelous light

For our sinful flesh, let us make no provision

Proclaim the excellences of God’s only Son!

Put on the new self, created after His likeness

Praise God for His great love and holiness

We who believe are the sheep of His pasture

Blessed are we for Christ is the good Shepherd!

Put on His true righteousness and tenderness

Outdo one another in showing honor and kindness

To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness!

As He forgave us, forgive others their trespasses

Put on love binding all things in perfect harmony!

We are chosen, a royal priesthood, called in one body

May the peace of Christ Jesus rule in our hearts anew!

Remembering the great grace gifted to me and you!

Thank You, O Lord!

I have been writing poetry since I was a teenager, but it wasn’t until a few of years ago that my writing became more spiritual and at the same time more prolific. As I shared my poetry with my wife, Hannah, and a few good friends, they encouraged me to place the poems in book form. My first book endeavor was “Because Of Him”, published in 2017. After hearing Sammy Murimi, the director of Share International Inc., speak at our church, I decided that the proceeds from that book would be donated to Share. In 2018, Hannah and I were privileged to go to Turkanaland in Kenya on a mission trip with Share. It was a life-changing experience for us both. Some of the inspiration from that trip is expressed in my second book, “His Cup Pours Out”. I include scripture verses with my poems because most of the poems I have written were inspired by reading God’s Word. I hope that as you visit this blog, you will meditate on the scripture verses and write down your prayers and thoughts for the week. My goal for this project has always been that God would be glorified! Robert M Hinnen
